“His parents were shiftless and unsuccessful farm people — his imagination had never really accepted them as his parents at all. The truth was that Jay Gatsby of West Egg, Long Island, sprang from his Platonic conception of himself. He was the son of God — a phrase which, if it means anything, means just that — and he must be about His Father’s business, the service of a vast, vulgar, and meretricious beauty. So he invented just the sort of Jay Gatsby that a seventeen-year-old boy would be likely to invent, and to this conception he was faithful to the end.”

You know, because of the heavily psychological themes in Silent Hill, the idea that it looks different to each individual…nothing has scared me more in the ENTIRE series than that ONE line from Vincent.

That was the moment I went, 「oh, SHIT.」

It calls to mind so many different ideas.

What does Silent Hill look like to him?

What does Silent Hill ACTUALLY look like?

What are we actually fighting?

What if we’re killing PEOPLE?

What if the monsters aren’t real, and we’re going around slaughtering real people? Maybe even other people trapped in Silent Hill just like us? What if they attack us because WE look like the monsters to them?

What if we’re the real monster.

STOP MAKING ME LOVE SILENT HILL MORE

I’VE ALWAYS THOUGHT OF IT LIKE THAT AND IT FREAKS THE FUCK OUT OF ME EVEN MORE

Exactly why I love Silent Hill more than anything in the world.

I usually don’t put up photos of myself on here, but I can’t resist this time.  Me and Neil Gaiman at TLA 2013.  He was amazing, brilliant, and so sweet to all of us; I shook the entire time.  I really can’t put into words what it meant to me, but needless to say I am over the moon thrilled.  Best day ever.

TLA

Guys.  Guys.  GUYS.

I’m leaving for TLA today.  That’s the annual Texas Library Association Conference for all you non-library peeps.  Do you know what this means?

I get to meet authors.  Authors I love and respect.

And, more importantly, I GET TO MEET NEIL GAIMAN.

Let the squealing begin. :D

Holden:  I loved playing this character; I had the time of my life. I’m so grateful as an artist that I was able to be a part of this, and to tell this tale. But whether she was a hero or a martyr is not up to me. That’s up to the viewers to decide. At the end of the day I feel like she was just a gal who did the best she could. I feel like her life mattered, and she died trying, and her heart was in the right place. I feel grateful for that. She was able to go out with a certain amount of dignity. Her last dying wish was to end it herself and she was granted that. And by the grace of God she’s now going to be with her sister. And Dale.
